MH, Maison les Hirondelles, is a nice but especially cosy bed & breakfast in a house that dates back to 1731.
Situated in the middle of a quiet village just around the corner of
Parc naturel régional des Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin.
MH is a fully renovated formerly farmhouse . Decorated with a mix of French brocante, vintage and modern furniture. And not to forget a few D- day items. You will find a colour scheme of Farrow & Ball, Annie Sloan, interior items of Rivièra Maison, Laura Ashley, Maison du Monde, kitchen equipment of Smeg and KitchenAid, pots and pans from Le Creuset and a large collection of private items. Some of which are for sale.
There is a large garden at the back of the house where you can wander around. You will find all sorts of roses, magnolias, hydrangeas as well as all kinds of trees. A part of the garden is still being developed. In the front of the house you will find a terrace in the romantic courtyard.
Er is een ommuurde parkeerplaats aan de overzijde van het huis. Komt u met een bijzondere wagen of wellicht scooters of motoren op een aanhanger? Daar hebben we plek voor aan de achterzijde van het huis.
On the ground floor you will find a large salon full of books and other items (library, 50m2) with large benches and a reading table. You can sit here to read or chat or relax.
For those you play the piano well (!): we invite you to play something on our guest piano.
MH is situated near the famous town of Sainte Mere Eglise and the D-day landingbeaches such as Utah and Omaha Beach.
On June 6th 1944 hte allies came to Normandy to liberate Europe from the German occupation.
In MH we wish to remember this liberation with you and celebrate our freedom and life. We feel we are ambassadors of freedom.
Peace has never been a more important issue in your and our lives.
But of course we would also like you to see the rest of this fantastic area!
We hold a lot of information about Cotentin and we are very happy to share this with you during your stay.
Close to MH you can go back in time to find out everything that happened on June 6 1944 and the period after that. There are many other interesting sights to visit, e.g. St Vaast la Hougue, chosen as the most loved town in 2019, Barfleur, Cherbourg, Carteret etc.
MH is veel meer dan alleen een plek om te overnachten. Het is een plek om andere mensen te ontmoeten, gesprekken te hebben, (levens)ervaringen uit te wisselen, samen te eten en een goed glas met elkaar te drinken.
We look forward to meeting you in MH
